Calinsta is an independent, ad-supported website offering free calculators for common financial and insurance decisions — loans, mortgages, taxes, retirement, life insurance, auto insurance, and more. There's no account, no data collection beyond standard analytics and advertising, and no calculator hidden behind a signup wall.
Most financial calculators online are either buried inside a lender's marketing funnel (designed to get you to apply for something) or hidden behind a paywall. We wanted something in between: a calculator that shows the actual formula, explains what it does and doesn't account for, and lets you compare real options afterward if you want to.
To be the calculator you bookmark because it's fast, explains itself, and doesn't try to trick you into anything. We'd rather have you trust one honest estimate than click through five pages of upsells to get a number.
Each calculator uses either a standard, well-established formula (like amortization math for loans, or the IRS's published tax brackets) or, where real pricing varies by underwriting (like insurance premiums), a clearly-labeled estimate built from published national averages. Every calculator page includes a "How this works" section showing the actual formula, so you're never guessing what's happening behind the numbers.
We aim for every formula-based calculator (loan payments, tax brackets, compound growth) to be mathematically exact. For calculators that estimate real-world costs that vary by underwriting or location (insurance premiums, for example), we clearly label them as estimates and link to where you can get a real, personalized number. Figures tied to current law or IRS/government data (tax brackets, HSA limits, ACA subsidy rules) are reviewed and updated at the start of each tax year, or sooner if the underlying law changes. See our Editorial Policy for how we review and update content.
